Sevilimedu Sri Lakshmi Nrisimhan Temple

Srimathe Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Parabramhane namaha

As prahlada rightly said that the Lord is everywhere, our Lord Nrisimhan resides everywhere. It is for us to identify him and get his blessings. Many temples though being the door next to us it becomes very less known and less accessed due to many reasons, probably the lord himself would have thought not to interact with too many people.....

Sevilimedu is a small village very near to kancheepuram. It was a surprise to us when we found this temple at a vicinity of within 5 kms from kancheepuram Devaperumal temple and also was surprised to see the status of this temple. The beauty of the lord cannot be explained in words. Lakshmi Nrisimhan is in the sitting posture. The moolavar is around 7 feet high. Having dharshan of the perumal in the brightness of the ghee lamp is something wonderful. Perumal thirumugam seems to be very matured and old. The utsavar's thirunamam is Sundara Varadhan . The Thayar's thirunamam is Soundaravalli thayar .

Though this temple is very near to one the most important and prominent divadesam of our Srivaishnava sampradhayam only a very little care has been taken on this temple. As Lakshmi Nrisimhan is known as Rakshakan for all the devotees here he had rendered his services to Devaperumal(varadhan) also. Deveperumal is said to have come here and stayed here during the difficult times faced by our temples and the utsavams of Sri Devarajan is said to have conducted in this temple.

The renovation of the Raja gopuram is on and many other renovations is going on in this temple. With all the azhwar acharyan sannidhis inside the temple Sri Lakshmi Nrisimhan & Soundaravalli thayar are showering their blessings on us. Wheneevr you go to Kancheepuram never miss this temple. The Bhattacharyar's house is near by in the street opposite to the temple.

Awesome Post da. Actually the real beauty of perumal is when you see him in "Nei vilakku". Even in Srirangam , Singaperumal kovil when the power goes off the perumal look awesome in Ghee light.
Regarding unattended temples,it shows our mentality . They have spent millions of dollars for SwamiNarain temple in Atlanta US. Of that atleast 10K dollars spent on unattended temples would serve great to our humanity.
High time people invest on unattended Indian temples rather than flowing money to US and construct Jazzy temples.

In this connection I would like to draw the attention of all baktha janas of a little advice rendered by the late Mahaswamiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi when some one approached him for blessings saying that they were building a Ganesa Temple in some suurban areas of Madras. He seems to have said that there were scores of temples of ancient heritage value which are in a staste of ruin thanks to the ravages of time invasion by mlechcha armies. These temples have had reasdonably continuous aradhana for over hundreds of years. A moorthy's power is sourced in the time during wehich mathra aradha is done on the perumal located there. So instead of building new temples at sites which have no previous religious sanctions and becoming to parties of litigation with others, let us make it a point to adopt one of the dilapidated temples in the smaller villages and restore them to reasonable levels and ensure that arahanai is done in reasonable status. This will happen only if we pay a visit to the said temple at reasonable intervals. The archaka or Bhattar of the temple will have a proper initiative and check only if some grihasthas pay a visit to the temple at reasonable intervals.

Well how true his words are. Even among the great Divya Desams there are so many which are in a state of neglect and decline. Let us get together and do some thing about it. It is not possible to do this in all the temples at the same time. Let us do it at the rate of one temple at each attempt.
