Twin temples of Thiruparkadal

Thiruparkadal a small village near Kaveripakkam on the Chennai-Bangalore highway. There are two temples very close to each other in this village. These temples have an very interesting story behind them. The mummoorthikal (Brahma,Shiva & Vishnu) is said to have given dharshan for a sage. In the first temple Lord Prasanna Venkatesa perumal resides and showers his blessings to us. At the very sight of this perumal you would feel that u are in Thirumala. This perumal is the same as our Srinivasan at Thirumala. The real surprise was more when we saw the perumal in the standing posture above the shiva lingam. As the sthala puranam says that all the three gods gave dharshan to a sage, in this temple shiva & vishnu is said to have given dharshan.

In the next temple the perumal is in the lying posture and is simply majestic. Here perumal is said to have given dharshan for the sage with Bramha from his naabikamalam. Perumal lying on the aadhiseshan is around 6 foot long and his thirumeni is made from a tree called "athhi"(athimaram). Everything was fine but i was totally dissatisfied with the way the temple was maintained. Bright flourescent lights glowing inside the sanctum sanctorum is totally irritating and does not add any value to the sannidhi. Even the archakar showed only a very minimal commitment and performed the mangalaharathi only from outside the sanctum sanctorum. I got embarrassed and even wild at the sight of the perumal theertham being served from a stainless steel vattil . Such is the status of that temple.Left the temple with a heavy heart and only with a a satisfaction of having had a dharshan of perumal, everything else is in total disarray.

How to Reach...
On the Chenai - Bangalore highway, Thiruparkadal is around 5 kms from Kaveripakkam. Take left after a police checkpost at Kaveripakkam. A small info board is available on the left.

Nice one Balaji. I don't know when commitment comes. If its a smaller temple obviously you don't have that enthu because you don't have money. If its a bigger temple you have so much money and hence lack of commitment :)

very recently i had the opportunity to visit thiruparkadal the twin temple (referred by my friend collegue prof.padmavathy). it was really a devine experience for me. my onward journey was totally unplanned and so it was too tedious. i reached the temple very late evening ,had a good darshan of prassna venkatesa perumal and then to ranganathar. the surprise is archaga swami also entered along with me at the time and directed me for a pradarshanm and then darshan also took me inside the shrine ( as renovation work is going on ) showed harathi, prasadam, theertam and he was so kind enough to explain all the details of the temple and dropped me back at the kaveripakkam bus stand in his vehicle. the return journey was so comfortable which made me to realise the fact that this shrine removes all our sins and lead us to a good life. i was totally satisfied with the darshan of the lord.it is all with his grace he made me to know about this temple through my friend and also through the archaga swami (gowtham) gave a good darshan and comfortable return journey. a vcd coverage of the temple is availabe for sale which covers the details of sthalapuranam, renovation work, etc., and the darshan of ranganathar, very divine to view availabel at a very resonable price .Om namo narayana

It was a wonderful pilgrimage with my wife and my magnificent friends. My Heart-full thanks to my friend C.L. Ramachandran who made such a nice trip.

Let me talk about something unique interest on the Thiruparkadal(Lord Venkatasaperumal ) temple, Thiruparkadal is the historical place and this is the 107th Divya Dhesam out of 108 Divya Dhesam.

There where two historical god one is in standing position and another one is lying position.

Those who is un-able to go to Thirumala (Thirupathi), they can take dharsahan here it is equilant to thirupathi dharsan.

Another famous of this temples is normally lying perumal facing to the east side but here the GOD facing east-west side.

And one more interesting story the 108th Divya Dhesam temple is located near to this place called ‘Thigamuga chery” or “Thiyamuga chery” or “Iyampettai chery’. It is 6KM away from Kaveripakkam Junction.

The Lord ‘Paramapatha Nathar” is the 108th Divya Dharsan god. One more famous of this temple is the god is not standing, sitting and lying position. Here the god is look like sitting in a position about to go to people who ever needs his help. We can’t see any where in the world like this lord Paramapatha Nathar.

Please reach me out @sc.venkat@gmail.com for more details of these temples and some more historical temples in and around kaviripakkam.

Thiruparkadal temple is maintained nicely. One more thing that i noticed is that, we can see more devotees coming to Thiruparkadal compared to Thirupputkuzhi.

unexpectedly, to my surprise i got a chance to go to this temple on the 7th of April 2012, which was my dream for the past 5 years. There are no words to express my feelings about the great dharshan i had. The archagars explained the sthala history so well.It was very useful to us who visited the temple for the first time. The book about the sthala varalaru was also available for Rs.10.

My grandfather Shri.T.P.Sundarachariar was the paramparai dharmakartha of Ranganathaswamy Temple until he passed away and then my cousin took over. Recently I visited this temple and due to lack of funds renovation curtailed. There is not enough progress. Philanthrophists should come forward and help with the donations?

Visited the temple in February. The temple is just beautiful and you are right, i left the second temple with a heavy heart too. 12 years since you went and its still the same. Actually, they are undergoing renovtaion now and alot of things seem unplanned there. Hope the management will take steps to make changes to restore the temples history.
